Hunter Parks

Scout’s note

Hunter Parks, 25, an eighth-round pick out of Gastonia, North Carolina, grades at 0.63 on our stuff model — 95th percentile of the 827 Triple-A arms we track, where the median is 0.04. Stuff is not command: this is a watchlist entry, not a call, but stuff comes first, and his is real. What the season line shows — 40 games at Louisville, 57 strikeouts, a 7.14 ERA over 40 and a third innings — is the rest of the story. The arm is ahead of the results. Whether the results catch up is the only question that matters, and it is not a question stuff alone can answer.
