José Soriano threw 106 pitches in seven innings, allowed two hits — both singles — walked three, and struck out ten. Andrew Abbott gave up eight hits and seven earned runs in three innings. Mike Trout doubled in the second on an 85.3 mph changeup, and Nolan Schanuel singled in two in the first on a 92.4 mph fastball. Sam Bachman came in for the eighth, walked three of the six men he faced, and Nick Sandlin gave up two hits to the two batters he saw, and the lead Soriano built got close enough to require Drew Pomeranz for the ninth. Soriano's line is the one that holds up: seven innings, two hits, ten strikeouts, no runs.
