Twelve strikeouts in seven innings on ninety-three pitches, and Hunter Greene did not allow a run — the Cubs had four hits all night and never found a count to hit in. It was still 1-0 in the seventh, Elly De La Cruz's 400-foot home run the only mark against Shota Imanaga, who threw 102 pitches in five innings and left trailing by one. Then Jake Woodford came in and gave up Sal Stewart's sacrifice fly and JJ Bleday's two-run homer, and a game that had been one swing from tied was gone. Imanaga struck out five and walked one and allowed seven hits, and the single run he gave up was more than Chicago scored all night.
