Cease, 30, from Milton, Georgia, was a sixth-rounder in 2014 who didn't debut until 2019 and has since struck out 1,470 in 217 MLB games. This season in Toronto: 239 strikeouts and a 2.40 ERA over 169.0 innings, fourth in ERA, third in strikeouts. He's Index-ungraded — the stuff model is stability-tested, not outcome-validated, and no big-league arm gets a board flag from it. The ERA-FIP luck gap did clear the bar; regression calls are filed by hand from it. The grade waits for the science; the page is here because the arm matters.
