Salvador Perez signed out of Valencia, Venezuela and debuted in 2011, and across 1,859 games he's hit 324 home runs and driven in 1,094 runs — a career that has earned every line on the back of the card. At 36, the engine still finds something the stat sheet buries. His EV95 of 107.3 beats 71% of qualified hitters, but his results on contact run further below the physics than 97% of them — a -0.0604 gap across 468 balls in play, one of the widest samples of misfortune on the board. A .229 average with 21 home runs in 152 games reads like decline, and the -1.1 WAR agrees. The contact quality doesn't. He's No. 16 on the breakout board because the barrel still works; the legs, 23.7 ft/s, and the defense are what's gone.
