Josh Bell hit an 82.2 mph curveball to left field with two on in the first, and Minnesota never trailed. Gore was brilliant — 102 pitches, 70 strikes, ten strikeouts — but three of the four hits he allowed were home runs. Joc Pederson's two-run shot in the third cut the lead to one, and Byron Buxton answered in the sixth with his twenty-third of the year on a 90.1 mph cutter to left center. Texas managed five hits and left three on base.
