Steer's inside-the-parker — his 16th — came on a fly ball to right-center in the eighth, an inning after his 15th left the yard the conventional way. Brady Singer gave Cincinnati seven innings with two runs on four hits, walking nobody and striking out six on 96 pitches. Sal Stewart's first-inning double, his 23rd of the year, scored Elly De La Cruz to open the scoring, and Eugenio Suárez added his 12th homer in the sixth. Gabriel Hughes took the loss having allowed two earned in 5.1 innings, and the Rockies' bullpen gave up five more.
