Corbin Carroll at 100

The Jersey

Before the 2019 draft, the Mariners arranged a meeting between Corbin Carroll and Ichiro Suzuki. Carroll brought his childhood Ichiro jersey for a photo that remains the screensaver on his phone, and the two talked hitting and the value of a consistent daily routine. He had committed to UCLA and batted .540 with a 1.859 OPS as a senior at Lakeside School in Seattle. The Diamondbacks took him 16th overall instead. He signed for $3.7 million.

A Hundred

On August 12, Carroll hit his 100th career home run. He is 25. He has played 607 games in the major leagues, all of them for Arizona, and he is listed at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds. He has stolen 139 bases and tripled 57 times. Across 2,270 at-bats he has hit .256 with a .490 slugging percentage. He debuted on August 29, 2022, won the Jackie Robinson NL Rookie of the Year in 2023, and has been an All-Star three times — 2023, 2025, and 2026. He won a Silver Slugger in 2025.

The Cage

In 2021 he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery and spent the rehab enrolled in a full course load at Arizona State University, shifting toward finance studies. A Lakeside assistant coach once left practice and looked back to see Carroll, then a freshman or sophomore, hauling the batting cage back onto the field alone and firing up the machine for extra swings. Friends also recall him doing sled pulls and sprints during lunch periods to gain every edge. He carries a simple notebook to record lessons and self-analysis, from baseball and from life.
