Héctor Rodríguez is 22, a left-handed hitter from Santo Domingo who debuted on August 4 of this year, and in 41 games for Cincinnati he's hit .229 with six home runs and a .680 OPS — modest enough that you wouldn't expect a flag. But the engine raises one. His EV95 is 108.86, more than three ticks above the league median of 105.8, and his luck gap of 0.0727 lands him No. 8 on the fade board — his results outrunning his contact against more than 98 percent of qualified hitters. This is the unusual case: the hard contact is real, better than his stat line suggests, but the gap still runs the wrong way because the results are somehow ahead of even that.
