Joe Ryan sits in the Index ungraded, and that's deliberate: our stuff model isn't outcome-validated yet, so no arm gets a board flag from it — not even a 30-year-old San Franciscan with 159 strikeouts in 144.2 innings and a 3.79 ERA for Minnesota this year. The ERA-FIP luck gap did clear our bar, so we file a regression call by hand. A seventh-round pick in 2018, Ryan has 878 career strikeouts across 142 games.
