A fourth-round pick in 2023 out of Mission Viejo, Mathews debuted in August and has already struck out 46 in 49.1 MLB innings with a 3.83 ERA. That's a real arm at 25, and the page is here because he matters. But our stuff model isn't outcome-validated — no big-league arm gets a board flag from it, not even one fanning nearly a batter per frame. The ERA-FIP luck gap did clear our bar, and the regression call is filed by hand. The grade waits.
