Scout’s note
Yandy Díaz came out of Sagua la Grande, Cuba, and at 35 he's hitting .306 — seventh in the league — with an EV95 of 108.84 that puts him in the 86th percentile of 372 tracked bats. The luck gap is 0.0048: his results match his contact almost exactly, nothing owed and nothing borrowed. He's No. 151 on the breakout composite, well outside the board's 20, but the bat is real and the last two weeks — .364 with four home runs — say the man knows it.
We wrote about Díaz here — The Overnight: 3-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI (August 10, 2026) · 500 career runs scored (May 29, 2026) · 4-for-5, 2 2B, K, 4 RBI (May 18, 2026) · 5-for-6, 2B, 4 RBI, 2 R (March 29, 2026)
Current signals
The read: Díaz is tracked, not flagged: an EV95 of 108.8 (85th percentile of the 375 qualified MLB bats we track; median 105.8) with results within 0.001 of what the physics support — nothing owed, nothing borrowed. The boards hunt mispricing, and his price is right. He sits No. 145 of 375 on the breakout composite; the board takes 20.

| Season | 2026 | 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Salary | $12.0M | $10.0M |
A base salary under his own reading, and never subtracted from the cash figure above: a signing bonus lands in one and not the other, so the two disagree on most men without either being wrong. And the sheet does not mark which future seasons are GUARANTEED — a club option and a projected arbitration award are both just a number here, so read past the end of the deal as his forecast rather than as money owed.
The tax AAV above is his number under the CBA’s own rulebook, not the average we work out from Cot’s total. On a contract with deferred money the two come apart on purpose — and neither is subtracted from the other.
