The Cubs scored three times before Edward Cabrera threw a pitch. Nico Hoerner's sacrifice fly and Carson Kelly's two-run single put Chicago ahead in the first, and Cabrera made it stand up — six innings, one hit, five strikeouts, one walk. Ian Happ's third home run of the year made it 4-0 in the third, and Moisés Ballesteros singled in two more off a 90.1 mph cutter. Ryan Johnson gave up six earned in 3.1 innings. Colin Rea covered the last three innings and gave up two runs on Yoán Moncada's first home run. Mike Trout's 107.6 mph lineout was the hardest ball of the night.
