Hao-Yu Lee's first home run of the season — two runs to center in the seventh — put Detroit ahead for good, and Spencer Torkelson followed with his fifth of the year. Kerry Carpenter's two-run double in the first had given Detroit an early lead, and Matt McLain's RBI double in the fifth had given Cincinnati its only one. Sam Moll got one out, gave up two runs, and took the loss. Gleyber Torres added his second homer in the eighth, a two-run shot, and the Reds left six on base.
