Mark Vientos hit two two-run home runs — one in the fourth on a 95.1 mph sinker, one in the eighth on a 78.5 slider — and between them the Mets did not need much else. Clay Holmes went six and two-thirds, allowed four hits, and gave up the only Angels run in the first on Jorge Soler's single. Jack Kochanowicz matched Holmes for six and a third and took the loss, because the Mets scored two off him and three off the bullpen. Carson Benge doubled in the eighth to make it 3-1, and Vientos followed him three batters later. The Angels have Mike Trout and Jorge Soler at the top of the order and managed six hits.
