The Reds left fifteen men on base. That number alone tells most of the story, but the shape of the futility was specific: Elly De La Cruz hit the hardest ball of the night, 116.3 mph off the bat, a double that traveled 344 feet — and it didn't score a run. Imanaga went six, allowed one earned, struck out ten on 99 pitches, and the Cubs put up six in the fourth against Lowder and Phillips combined. Lowder walked four in three innings. Michael Conforto started the scoring with his second homer of the year and later walked with the bases loaded. The Reds had nine hits. Three scored.
