José Soriano threw 103 pitches and got into the eighth inning with five hits and one run on his line — the kind of start that lets an offense breathe. Jo Adell did the rest. He homered to right in the sixth on a 90.5 mph fastball, and then in the ninth he hit one 114.5 mph off the bat, 449 feet to left center, his sixth of the year. Toronto's first run came in the first inning on Kazuma Okamoto's RBI double, and then the lineup went quiet for eight innings against Soriano and two relievers who allowed nothing.
