Spencer Jones had not homered this season until the 2nd inning, when he hit an 87.2 mph cutter 443 feet to center field with Jazz Chisholm on base — 112.2 mph off the bat, the hardest contact of the night. Cleveland tied it in the 3rd on RBI singles from Chase DeLauter and Angel Martinez, and then neither club scored again until the 8th, when Chisholm went deep on an 86.8 mph slider from Tim Herrin. Fernando Cruz recorded the last five outs, struck out four, and walked one without allowing a hit. The Guardians collected 10 hits, left 13 on base, and crossed the plate twice.
