Nick Lodolo gave up eleven hits and seven earned runs in 4.2 innings, and by the time he left the Mets had batted around in the third and added four more in the fifth. A.J. Ewing's two-run double and Francisco Alvarez's RBI single were the blows that opened it up. Nolan McLean allowed three hits and one unearned run over seven innings, striking out nine on 101 pitches. Juan Soto's third-inning single — a fly ball center fielder Noelvi Marte couldn't hold — started the scoring. The Mets committed two errors and won by eight.
