Elly De La Cruz hit a ball 115.7 mph off the bat in the third — a line drive that traveled 119 feet and scored Matt McLain — and it was the hardest contact anyone recorded in this game. Gregory Soto came in for the ninth with the score tied and walked two before Nathaniel Lowe grounded into a force that brought De La Cruz home. Rhett Lowder gave Cincinnati six innings, two earned runs, and no walks, and left with the game even. Pittsburgh left eight on base and Cincinnati left twelve, and neither club separated until the last half-inning.
