Bregman's three-run homer in the fifth tied a game the Cubs had been losing, and his two-run shot in the sixth put them ahead for good — five RBI on two swings. Tom Cosgrove gave up three runs while recording one out, and Yovanny Cruz gave up two more without finishing the inning. The Cubs scored nine runs across the fifth and sixth. David Peterson got the win despite allowing four runs in five innings, and Javier Assad covered the final four — 66 pitches, 33 for strikes, two runs on his watch.
