Max Fried struck out seven in three and a third innings on 80 pitches — the line reads like dominance, the pitch count tells you it was a fight to get there. Colorado got within two in the 7th when Jake McCarthy tripled in Ezequiel Tovar, and two batters later Anthony Volpe hit a grand slam to right that made it 10-2. The Rockies left eleven on base across the night, and the margin was never closer than that 4-2 moment before Volpe cleared the bases. Ryan Feltner took the loss with four earned across five innings, and Fried's seven strikeouts came on a night he didn't finish the fourth.
