Trey Gibson went 6.2 innings and gave up three hits, none of which scored. The lead was already four by then. Christian Encarnacion-Strand drove in three: a two-run single in the first on a 2-2 changeup and a solo shot to left in the fourth, his eleventh. Colton Cowser's double in the first scored another, deflecting off the left fielder's glove. Coby Mayo's double came off the bat at 110.9 mph and traveled 363 feet — what it sounds like when a ball is hit that hard and stays in the yard. Davis Schneider's two-run homer in the ninth off Félix Bautista made the card look closer than the game was. Toronto had six hits and scored twice, both in the ninth, both too late.
