A three-homer game

All three of them went to left field.

Andy Pages came to the plate five times at Daikin Park on May 6, and the scorecard tells the shape of the night in five lines. Line out to right. Home run to left. Home run to left. Pop out to first in foul territory. Home run to left.

The Dodgers beat the Astros 12–2. Pages drove in six of those twelve runs. He did it on three swings — a three-run homer that scored Freddie Freeman and Kyle Tucker, a two-run homer that scored Max Muncy, and a solo homer to finish. Season home run number six, then number seven, then number eight, all in one game, all to the same part of the yard.

It was the second three-homer game in the major leagues in 2026. Pages was the second man to do it.

What it takes

The difficulty of three home runs is not any single swing. Professional hitters hit home runs. The difficulty is doing it three times before the other side adjusts — before a pitcher stops challenging you, before the manager calls for a walk, before the approach that worked early stops working later. Pages saw five plate appearances. Three times he got a pitch he could handle, or made a pitch hittable, and three times he did not miss.

His longest ball traveled 393 feet. His hardest left the bat at 109.7 mph. Neither number is extraordinary by the standard of the hardest contact in the sport. What they describe is a hitter who squared the ball cleanly, repeatedly, to the same section of seats.

The outs went the other way. A line drive to right fielder Cam Smith in the first. A pop to first baseman Christian Walker in foul territory. When Pages hit the ball to left field, it left the yard. Three times, five plate appearances, all of them to the same place.
