Scout’s note

A 35th-round pick from Pittsburgh who didn't reach the majors until he was 26, Bednar has 35 saves and a 2.47 ERA in 64 MLB appearances this season, and the board still won't grade him. The stuff model isn't outcome-validated — no arm gets flagged from it, not even a closer worth 1.9 WAR. The ERA-FIP gap did trip our threshold for a hand-filed regression call. Six years into a career built late, he's a reliever the page follows because he matters, even as the science waits.
