Garrett Crochet entered with two on in the fifth and threw sixteen pitches without recording an out — three hits, four runs, and the game opened up on him. Cody Bellinger's three-run homer in the sixth was the blow that turned a competitive night into a laugher, and Max Fried gave the Yankees six innings of one-run ball on the other side. The Red Sox used five relievers to cover the last four and a third and gave up seven runs. Luis García Jr. homered off Fried in the fourth for Boston's first run, and the hardest ball he hit all night — 108.5 mph — was a lineout that ended the inning.
