Sonny Gray came out of Smyrna, Tennessee, a first-round pick in 2011, and at 36 he's first in the league in wins with 18 and eighth in ERA at 2.72. The engine leaves him ungraded — our stuff model isn't outcome-validated, so no arm gets a board flag from it. But the ERA-FIP luck gap cleared the bar, and we file those regression calls by hand. A 3.4-WAR season from a five-foot-ten right-hander with 2,074 career strikeouts.
