CJ Kayfus's first home run of the season tied the game in the eighth, and Cleveland scored three in the inning to take the lead for good. Jacob Webb came in for the Cubs and faced four hitters — three singles and a walk — without recording an out. Gabriel Arias's line-drive single to left brought in one run, his second RBI of the night. Dansby Swanson's two-run homer in the sixth, his first of the year, had given Chicago its lead. Ian Happ's solo shot in the eighth put them back ahead. Cade Smith walked two in the ninth and still got the save. Chicago took the lead in the sixth and took it again in the eighth. Cleveland scored three in the eighth and never gave it back.
