Kodai Senga threw sixty-five pitches and got ten outs, leaving him charged with seven runs, six of them earned. Moisés Ballesteros's three-run homer in the first — his third of the year, on an 88.7 mph cutter — gave Chicago the lead before New York had settled in, and the Mets' three-run second only tied the game briefly before Nico Hoerner's two-run shot put the Cubs back in front. Edward Cabrera gave the Cubs six innings and absorbed fourteen hits while allowing three earned runs, which is the kind of line that only works when your offense scores twelve. The Mets committed two errors and left seven on base. Francisco Lindor's second double of the season was one of fourteen New York hits that produced four runs.
