Michael Busch hit his first triple of the season in the fifth — a fly ball to right that Corbin Carroll could not catch, and it cleared the bases. Three runs scored, and the Cubs led 6-2. Merrill Kelly had thrown 92 pitches in four and a third, given up six earned, and taken the loss. Matthew Boyd went six for Chicago, struck out five, and allowed two — both on Gabriel Moreno's first home run of the year, a 93.6 mph fastball at 2-2. Moises Ballesteros had tied the game in the third with a two-run homer, his sixth, on a 1-0 cutter. Busch added a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Adrian Del Castillo hit a two-run homer in the ninth for Arizona. It made the score 8-4 and did not change the night.
