The Mariners collected four hits all night, and Anthony Kay allowed three of them over five innings while giving up one unearned run. Miguel Vargas homered twice — a two-run shot in the third and a solo blast in the fifth at 112.9 mph off the bat. Colson Montgomery's two-run homer in the first had already put Seattle in a hole. Castillo lasted four innings, gave up four earned, and left trailing 4-0.
