The Angels left ten men on base and lost by one. Slade Cecconi struck out seven over four innings and left with the game scoreless. Cleveland scored one run at a time — a third-inning homer from Angel Martínez, a fifth-inning groundout, a seventh-inning sacrifice fly — and never needed more than that. Vaughn Grissom's second home run of the season, a fly ball to center in the eighth, pulled Los Angeles within 3-2. Cade Smith came in with two outs in the eighth and retired all four hitters he faced, two by strikeout. The Angels had eight hits and five walks and scored twice.
