Vargas, Murakami, Montgomery — three home runs in the first three innings, and Chicago had a lead they never gave back. Vargas' three-run shot in the first left the bat at 108.4 mph. Murakami followed with a solo homer in the third, his sixteenth, and Montgomery added another in the same inning at 112.4 mph and 442 feet. Murakami homered again in the fifth, a two-run shot, his seventeenth. Davis Martin struck out seven across six innings with one earned. Jameson Taillon allowed eight earned in five. Pete Crow-Armstrong homered in the ninth with Conforto aboard, and the game ended three batters later.
