Alvarez went to center field twice — a 448-foot shot at 110 mph off the bat in the fourth, then a 428-footer in the eighth that tied the game at 3 — and Joc Pederson followed later in the inning with a line drive to right-center that put Houston ahead for good. Jacob deGrom gave the Rangers six innings with two earned and six strikeouts, but Tyler Alexander faced three hitters in the eighth, surrendered both homers, and took the loss on 18 pitches. Mike Burrows was the winner with seven innings of two-run ball, and Enyel De Los Santos covered the final 1.2 with three strikeouts. The lead changed three times, and the last two runs Houston scored both left the park.
