Beck Way got one out in the ninth and gave up four runs, and Kansas City still won. Three of those runs came on Josh Bell's 111.6 mph home run to right field, and the fourth scored on Victor Caratini's single before Lucas Erceg ended it. Noah Cameron had given the Royals six innings of three-hit baseball — seven strikeouts, 104 pitches, one unearned run — and a lead the bullpen stretched to five before it nearly evaporated. Starling Marte's first home run of the season was the swing that built the lead, and the Royals made two errors and still won.
