Pedro Ramírez hit his first home run of the season in the fifth inning, a 414-foot drive to center, and the Cubs had already done the work by then. Chicago scored in each of the first five innings — Pete Crow-Armstrong's homer in the first, Seiya Suzuki's RBI single, Luis Arraez's triple, a bases-loaded walk to Michael Busch, Ian Happ's 16th homer, and then Ramírez. Ben Brown gave up one earned run in five innings. Trevor McDonald walked three in 3.2 innings and gave up four earned. The Giants managed seven hits and never pushed more than one across.
