Jake McCarthy's inside-the-park home run in the first gave Colorado their first run, and the second time he crossed the plate — on TJ Rumfield's single in the third — it was the run that decided it. Skenes went six innings, struck out eight, allowed two runs, and took the loss. The Pirates managed six hits, left six on base, and scored once. Sugano gave them that one run over six innings, and three relievers finished it.
