Cincinnati erased a four-run deficit by the fifth — Bleday's two-run single in the fourth, then RBI hits from Stephenson and Arroyo to tie it — and the Pirates answered before the inning ended, Ryan O'Hearn's solo home run to right restoring a lead the Reds would never reach. O'Hearn did it again in the eighth, this time a three-run shot that made Pierce Johnson wear four earned runs in two-thirds of an inning. Valdez followed with a 461-foot home run at 109.8 off the bat, and what had been a one-run game was five. Keller gave Pittsburgh six innings on 79 pitches and left with a lead that never came back.
