Nick Lodolo allowed one hit over five innings and no runs. He also threw 96 pitches, because he walked four, and that was the difference between a dominant start and a short one. He left with a lead the bullpen couldn't hold. Elly De La Cruz's two-run homer in the fifth, his thirteenth, had given Cincinnati a 3-1 edge. Chase Petty gave it back: three earned in 1.2 innings. Joey Ortiz hit his second home run of the season in the eighth, a two-run shot to center off Sam Moll. Brice Turang had started the comeback with a solo homer in the seventh. Trevor Megill needed ten pitches for the save.
