Three runs in the first, two more in the second, and the Yankees were chasing from the second inning on. Alex Jackson hit his first home run of the season in the second — an 83.4 mph slider at 2-2 sent to left center — and if you know what it costs a catcher to get that at-bat and do something with it, the jog around the bases means something. Kody Clemens's two-run homer in the first came on a 3-2 slider at 84.4 mph. Brendan Beck took the loss over 3.2 innings and 87 pitches, five earned. Camilo Doval gave up four unearned in the ninth.
