Cade Cavalli struck out eight over six innings on 90 pitches, and when he left, the Nationals led 1-0. Then the seventh happened — six runs crossed, Colorado's three errors turned every chance into damage, and Luis García Jr.'s 21st home run was the loudest swing in it. Gabriel Hughes deserved better than a loss that wasn't his: five innings, one earned run, five strikeouts, 60 strikes in 88 pitches, while the Rockies managed six hits and left ten on.
