Dustin May struck out eight over six innings and left with the score 1-1. The one run he allowed came on Tyler Stephenson's ground-rule double in the fourth — a 97.8 mph sinker at 1-2. George Soriano took the loss in the seventh when Suárez drove a slider 435 feet at 110.5 mph, scoring Sal Stewart ahead of him. Rhett Lowder gave St. Louis two runs in five innings and handed a tie to a bullpen that could not hold it. Emilio Pagán threw ten strikes in eleven pitches to finish the ninth. The Cardinals managed two hits all night.
