Lawrence Butler put a ball 415 feet into the seats at 107.9 mph in the 1st inning, and Cincinnati spent the rest of the night answering. Rhett Lowder went six innings, gave up four hits and two earned runs, and struck out three — and the bullpen behind him threw three hitless innings to finish it. Matt McLain tied it with a solo shot in the 5th. Jonah Heim doubled in the 6th to make it 2-2, and Noelvi Marte's sacrifice fly brought home the run that stood. Hayden Juenger was charged with the loss — 0.2 innings, two hits, one earned. Emilio Pagán threw eleven pitches, eight for strikes, and struck out one for the save. The Athletics left four on base and scored twice.
