Jake McCarthy homered twice — a solo shot to right center in the first and a two-run homer to center in the sixth — and the second one held. Cole Carrigg doubled in two in the third on an 88 mph changeup, and that was the inning that gave Colorado a lead they kept giving back. Matthew Liberatore gave up nine hits and five earned runs in five innings. Kyle Freeland threw 101 pitches in four and a third and left with the game tied. St. Louis left twelve on base and scored in the first, fifth, sixth, and ninth. Jordan Romano gave up a run in the ninth and still got the save.
