Castillo threw 104 pitches over seven innings and allowed one hit while striking out ten, and what looks like a dead Cincinnati lineup was mostly a starter who refused to let them hit. Rhett Lowder grinded through five and a third on 94 pitches, gave up seven hits and two earned, and left a one-run game that the bullpen turned into five. Drew Romo put his name on both ends of it — the solo homer in the third on an 84.8 mph slider at 2-2, then the RBI single in the eighth after Ron Marinaccio walked two. Two hits of support is what Lowder got for ninety-four pitches of work.
