Six innings of two-run ball from Jacob Lopez set the table, and Zack Gelof broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh with a two-run homer to right center on a 93.3 mph fastball. Lawrence Butler's 394-foot blast to right had given Oakland its first lead back in the second, and after Jake Burger answered for Texas — once with a homer, once on a forceout — the game sat even until Gelof went yard. Tommy White's first home run of the season came in the eighth, a ball to center field. Cody Bradford needed 81 pitches to get through four innings for Texas, and the Rangers left six on and committed the game's only error.
