Quantrill scattered four singles over seven, struck out five, and walked none — 61 strikes out of 91 pitches, every one of them needed because Texas scored five but never broke it open. Kent left in the fourth having allowed eight hits and three walks. Andrés Chaparro barreled a double at 111.2 mph in the second, the hardest ball anyone hit all night, and it never came home. Washington left eight on and did not score.
