Christian Vázquez homered on the first pitch he saw in the third, a 98.4 mph sinker, and the fourth inning decided the rest — Denzer Guzman's two-run double on fan interference, Jose Altuve's RBI double, and Cam Smith's sac fly brought the Astros' total to three. Walbert Ureña struck out seven in five innings and still took the loss, because three runs were more than the Angels could match after the fourth. Josh Hader walked one in the ninth and closed it without allowing a hit. Los Angeles left eight on base — two hits and two walks from the fifth inning on, none of them scoring.
