Schlittler's six innings gave up six of those hits, and only Kirk's fifth-inning single, on a 97.8 mph fastball at 1-2, produced a run. Spencer Jones's 108.8 mph homer in the second, 385 feet to right, accounted for two of New York's three runs. Sánchez's 101.5 mph double was the Jays' hardest ball after that, and it never scored. Four relievers covered the last three innings and struck out four, the last of them Bednar on 16 pitches.
