Colson Montgomery's three-run homer off an 83.3 mph splitter was the centerpiece of a four-run first for Chicago, and Brooks Lee answered with a two-run homer for Minnesota — but both starters were gone after four, Kremer having allowed six runs and Castillo four. Grant Taylor threw two and two-thirds of one-hit relief with three strikeouts, and from the moment he entered, Minnesota did not score again. The Twins finished with twelve hits and left eight on base, and their last run crossed in the second inning.
